Band Ten
Each line on this chart represents a fabric thread.
Skip down two fabric threads from the Van Dyke row and do a skipped Cross Stitch row in your predominate color, I used two strands of the same blue floss as the reindeer. I started on the marked edge of the sampler and did a cross stitch, then skipped two fabric threads and did another cross stitch and so across the row.
Skip down four fabric threads and do the Rhodes stitch hearts row with two strands of the blue floss for the hearts and a strand of perle cotton #8 for the squares. Do another skipped Cross Stitch row using two strands of the blue floss, and do this row four fabric threads below the bottom of the longest stitch on the Rhodes stitch hearts. The Rhodes Heart can be located by clicking on its name. The squares are done the same way as the squares in Band Three . For the chart, only a portion is shown, repeat the Heart - Block combination acorss the row as shown. The Cross stitches would start on the marked edge of your embroidery.
Finish this band with another Wheat Ear row, but do the variation that advances two fabric threads for each new stitch. Start this row two fabric threads below the Rhodes Heart Row at the right edge of the sampler.

I have included a photo of the Pulled Wave Stitch from 'Band Eleven' with this band. I had added six strands of floss under the upright bars of this stitch and I had stripped and recombined the strands in this photo, but later decided I did not care for the blue on this row and removed it. ©2001, Linda Fontenot, www.AmericanFolkArts.com
