Pulled Scottish Stitch

This chart has grids that represent two fabric threads.

The count for this band is 80 stitches, skip four fabric threads on the left side and between each stitch. You can place this band of stitches four fabric threads under the Reindeer's hooves. I start these centered bands in the middle of fabric and work out to each side. Work one Scottish stitch centered and then add six more on either side.

This band of pulled stitches is the same as the Scottish Stitch , but you pull the thread on top of the fabric just a little, work each Scottish stitch in the direction shown using Perle 12 in Ecru or the color you have chosen.

And not all the stitches are shown on this chart, instead I have shown every other stitch, so you would do a Satin stitch over two fabric threads on a diagonal, then three fabric threads, then four fabric threads, then three, then two and in the center between these stitches you could go across one fabric intersection.

The pulled fabric threads will add another dimension to this stitch creating the open look of lace.

Nine Count Boxes

Each grid on this chart equals one stitch over two fabric threads.

This band is 80 stitches wide and will start on the left edge exactly. Each box will have a space between it and the next box. Use the same color of thread as the reindeer topper for these Cross Stitches .  ©2000, Linda Fontenot   www.AmericanFolkArts.com and www.OvertheMoonDesigns
